Triumph Group Goes Private, Poised for Growth Under New Leadership

Triumph Group announced today the completion of its acquisition by private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners, officially becoming a privately-held company. The move marks a new chapter for the aerospace and defense supplier.

With the finalization of the deal, Jorge L. Valladares III has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Daniel J. Crowley, who has led Triumph since 2016. Mr. Valladares brings decades of industry leadership to the role, having most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of TransDigm until 2023.

The acquisition follows a multi-year transformation at Triumph, during which the company divested non-core businesses and consolidated operations to emerge as a pure-play aerospace supplier. Its most recent divestiture was the sale of its product support business to AAR in early 2024, a move designed to sharpen its focus on high-growth manufacturing of aircraft parts and spares.

Triumph has strategically positioned itself for an anticipated production ramp-up at Boeing, using recent industry slowdowns to bolster its supply chain and inventory of critical components. This readiness, combined with a surge in its high-margin aftermarket business, has provided stability and growth.

In addition to its commercial aviation business, Triumph is expanding its footprint in the military sector. The company has secured significant contracts for key defense programs, including supplying tail structures for the Boeing-Saab T-7A Red Hawk trainer jet and components for the Navy’s MQ-25 Stingray refueling drone. This diversification is expected to provide more stable revenue streams and mitigate the risks associated with fluctuations in the commercial aviation industry.

The new owners, Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners, are active investors with deep experience in the aerospace and industrial sectors, with past and present investments in companies like TransDigm, Hexcel, and Consolidated Precision Products.
