
California-based AAM startup Joby Aviation and Saudi Arabian industrial and transportation giant Abdul Latif Jameel have announced a planned partnership to develop commercial air taxi operations in Saudi Arabia under a newly penned Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The two entities have articulated plans to collaborate towards the realization of local AAM infrastructural development goals, the establishment of regional personnel training and AAM maintenance and repair hubs and the procurement and sale of Joby vehicles for commercial use across the Middle East region. Abdul Latif Jameel has outlined ambitions to generate the purchase of up to 200 of Joby’s flagship air taxi platform, with the total value of potential contractual activity forecast at $1.0 billion.
