The coming two years are poised to be fecund with major milestones for the burgeoning eVTOL segment, with numerous industry players poised to initiate flight testing for their flagship platforms in 2025.
The most recent example of the segment’s deepening maturation comes via a string of announcements from Textron eAviation. On October 7th, the company announced that it will partner with Salina Regional Airport (SLN) in Kansan to conduct remotely piloted flight-testing regime for its Nexus eVTOL full-scale technology demonstrator.
According to Textron, these tests will put the Nexus through its paces by simulating a wide range of operational scenarios and conditions. Textron and SLN will initiate the remote operations program upon the conclusion of the Nexus’s initial restrained flight-testing phase, which is scheduled to begin in 2025 in cooperation with the National Institute of Aviation Research at Wichita State University.
