Major Chicago-based rotorcraft operator and lessor Helicopters Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire 50 eVTOL aircraft from Embraer’s UAM flagship subsidiary, Eve Air Mobility.
The new announcement builds on a preexisting partnership between the two entities dating to 2022.

That year, the two companies first deployed the Chicago operator’s helicopter fleet to conduct a multi-week simulation intended to shed light on the infrastructural requirements, potential operational complications and overall market prospects of UAM operations servicing a major metropolitan area.

As part of the envisioned acquisition bundle, Helicopters Inc. will also tap Eve for its Vector urban air traffic management (ATM) system and TechCare service support solution in order to support fleet operations.
