FAA Powered Lift Final Rule Refines Regulatory Space

Source: Federal Aviation Administration

The advanced air mobility segment’s path towards industrial and commercial maturation has cleared a major milestone with the U.S Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) formal release of its Integration of Powered-Lift: Pilot Certification and Operations Final Rule.

The new release refines and lends regulatory clarity to the operational requirements of relevant powered lift aircraft regarding issues such platform visibility and flight altitude and likewise establishes a framework for pilot training and qualifications mandates. The maturation of the FAA’s regulatory regime for powered lift operations will facilitate efforts by contractors and investors to ensure their nascent powered lift platforms abide by state and industry best practices and begin building a qualified base of personnel and institutional knowledge as the segment begins its transition from concept to commercial practice.
