Honeywell and Vertical Aerospace Deepen Certification Partnership

The United Kingdom-based AAM startup Vertical Aerospace and American multinational Honeywell reaffirmed and expanded their developmental partnership on April 8th with the signing of a major new long-term agreement intended to facilitate the certification of Honeywell systems on Vertical’s flagship VX4 eVTOL platform as it advances towards commercial production in the late 2020s. The agreement deepens intercorporate personnel and information sharing and establishes framework s for closer collaboration with regards to the VX4’s testing and certification regime.

The VX4 platform’s flight management system will be provided by Honeywell, encompassing its Anthem flight deck suite and fly-by-wire electronic control configuration. At the time of publication, Vertical hopes to introduce the VX4 onto the commercial market circa 2028. The two companies have said that the expanded scope of their partnership could generate $1.0 billion in contract value through 2035.
