The Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 jetliners have been awarded type certification by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).  The two aircraft were previously certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and Brazil’s Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil (ANAC) in the 2018-2019 timeframe.

Starting in 2024, the Singapore-based low-fare carrier Scoot, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is slated to take delivery of nine E190-E2s under a lease arrangement with the Fort Lauderdale-based leasing firm Azorra.  The aircraft will come from Azorra’s existing order backlog with Embraer for 13 E190-E2s.  Scoot will be the first Singapore airline to operate the E190-E2.

The E190-E2 and E195-E2 are members of Embraer’s second-generation E-Jets series, called the E2 family.  The E2 family includes re-engined and rewinged versions of some of the members of the first-generation E-Jets series, such as the Embraer 190 and 195.   The E2 series also includes the E175-E2, currently in development, which is a new version of the original Embraer 175.

The twin-engine E190-E2 and E195-E2 are powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1900G geared turbofan engines.  The E190-E2 can accommodate 97-114 passengers, while the larger E195-E2 can carry 120-146 passengers.

This past August, Embraer-CAE Training Services (ECTS), a joint venture between Embraer and training technology and services provider CAE, unveiled plans to launch a new pilot training program in Singapore and install an E-Jets E2 full-flight simulator (FFS) at the Singapore-CAE Flight Training Centre.  Training operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2023.
