Aerofugia, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) subsidiary established under Chinese automotive conglomerate Geely, has announced the initiation of prototype production for its flagship AE200-100 piloted eVTOL platform ahead of its planned attainment of airworthiness certification from China’s civil aviation authorities and eventual transition into serial production and commercialization.

The  AE200-100 achieves lift via eight electrically powered rotors and offers seating for five passengers. AeroFugia reports that the aircraft features an operational range of 200km (124.3mi) and cruising speed of 248kmh (154.1mph). The AE200 has secured pre-orders from multiple Chinese airlines and a smaller host of international clients, with these orders reportedly amounting to upwards of 1,000 units in total.
