Air Canada, Canada’s national flag carrier, has signed a firm order with Airbus for five additional A220-300 aircraft. This latest order comes on the fifth anniversary of the airline’s first A220 delivery in December 2019.

The new order follows an initial order for 45 A220-300s in 2016 and a second order for 15 more in 2022. With this latest purchase, Air Canada’s total firm orders for the A220-300 now stand at 65 aircraft.

Air Canada was the launch operator of the A220-300 in North America in January 2020. Since then, the airline has deployed its A220 fleet to over 70 destinations. The A220 family is designed to accommodate between 100 and 150 passengers on flights of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 kilometers).

As of the end of November 2024, Airbus had secured nearly 900 orders for the A220 family from 32 customers worldwide. Of these orders, nearly 380 aircraft have been delivered.
