Dubai-based Emirates airline received its first Airbus A350-900 on Tuesday, a significant step in its fleet modernization and expansion plans. The aircraft, part of a 65-plane order, will be deployed on medium- and long-haul routes, bolstering the airline’s global network.
The A350-900 is known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. Emirates will configure its aircraft with 312 seats across three cabin classes, including a premium economy option (32 business, 21 premium economy and 259 spacious economy class seats). The airline will also be the first in the Middle East to introduce Airbus’s latest HBCplus satellite communication system, offering high-speed connectivity onboard.
The delivery aligns with Dubai’s broader economic strategy to position the city as a global aviation hub. The new aircraft will be instrumental in expanding the reach of Dubai World Central (DWC), a major airport project. Dubai plans to add 400 cities to Dubai’s foreign trade map over the next decade.
