German eVTOL startup Lilium Jet has announced that the production model of its flagship platform has successfully cleared its first all systems power-on test, a critical threshold that opens the door for the company to imminently begin conducting ground testing and advancing apace towards platform certification.
The power-on procedure encompasses the conversion of external high-voltage power into a state compatible with core low-voltage core components, namely the platform’s avionics suite and electrical systems. With the ground testing now set to begin soon in the wake of the power-on test, Lilium Jet hopes to see the platform transition to piloted flight testing in early 2025 and for serial manufacture to begin in 2026.
