Rolls-Royce has clinched a significant deal with Cathay Pacific for 60 Trent 7000 engines to power 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft. This order comes alongside a comprehensive TotalCare service agreement, which will see Rolls-Royce assume responsibility for engine maintenance and operational risks.

The Trent 7000, the latest addition to the Rolls-Royce Trent engine family, has already amassed over two million flight hours, demonstrating high reliability and performance. This engine, paired with other aircraft upgrades, allows the Airbus A330neo to deliver a substantial 14% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat compared to its predecessor, while significantly reducing emissions.

The Trent 7000 is the only engine available to power the A330neo, a break with Airbus’s prior strategy of offer three different engines on the A330-200/300 family.  To further enhance the Trent 7000’s capabilities, Rolls-Royce is investing over £1 billion in a program aimed at extending engine life and boosting performance. The engine is already certified to operate on a 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend and is poised for 100% SAF compatibility in the future.
