United Kingdom eVTOL startup Vertical Aerospace has announced that its flagship VX4 production platform has received Permit to Fly approval from the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), opening the door for the program to transition into its final phase of piloted flight testing ahead of planned serial-production and commercialization. This latest phase of testing, which was initiated on November 13th, will hone in on the in-flight transition of the of the platform from its VTOL ‘helicopter mode’ into the conventional ‘airplane mode’ configuration. Vertical hopes to conduct a range of additional advanced flight maneuver and transition tests in this vein prior to year’s end 2025.
