On February 12th, Japanese UAM firm SkyDrive announced the attainment of a general understanding with Taiwan-based UAV manufacturer 7A drones for the planned acquisition of 10 of SkyDrive’s Model SD-05 eVTOL platforms. The two companies are also beginning to collaborate on the establishment of eVTOL-based emergency medical evacuation infrastructure for the Penghu Archipelago, located off of Taiwan’s Western coast.
Under the new agreement, 7A is scheduled to receive its first SD-05 in 2028 in tandem with SkyDrive’s general ramp up into commercialization and service provision. An additional four aircraft are scheduled for delivery to 7A in 2029, with the timeline for the remainder of the order still yet to be determined.
